Attire information

WELCOME DRINKS attire

Indian casual or Western cocktail attire would be appropriate attire for this event. The venue has a rooftop area, which may get a little chilly and windy later in the evening. Indian casual could mean a comfortable kurtha for men, and a simple salwar khameez or saree for women.

Western cocktail for men would involve a suit with a tie. For women, this could mean dresses that are party-ready, dress pants and a top, or a fun skirt and top.

ceremony attire

Attire for the Hindu ceremony will be Indian bridal attire (a sari or salwar kameez for ladies, and kurtha for men) or Western cocktail attire.

reception attire

Attire for the cocktail reception and reception will be black tie. Indian attire guidelines would include: a saree, sherwani, formal bandi or banhgala, or dressy kurtha for men. For women, a formal lehenga, saree, gown, or dressy salwar suit would work well. Western black tie involves black tie formal wear for men and floor-length dresses for women. If you have a fancy dress that is traditional cocktail length, that would also be appropriate.

Saris and Things: This website lets you rent or buy a sari, as well as other types of Indian bridal wear. They are based in the Chicago area. Vinita personally hasn't tried this, but they seem to have a great setup! (Please note: We would recommend using a credit card with flexible refund protection just to play it safe.)

Borrow It Bindaas: This website is essentially like a Rent the Runway for South Asian wedding attire. We haven't personally tried it, but it comes highly recommended from one of our good friends who used to work in the wedding industry.
