The V Squared story

We met on a rainy Thursday night in December 2016. Our mutual love and appreciation for location-based dating technology brought us together! Vinita didn't have time to change before she met Varun for the first time, so showed up to Eastern Standard, a fancy cocktail bar in Boston's Kenmore Square, wearing rain boots and her backpack. Varun followed the Barney Stinson date prep handbook to a tee, and left work early to shower, change, and "suit" up. Everyone seemed to be at Eastern Standard that rainy evening, so Vinita suggested a walk down the block to a less-crowded sports bar next to Fenway Park. This was her turf after all, so she could call the shots. Varun talked about his work, his research, and when he sensed Vinita was getting a little lost, started asking questions about her (which she loved.) Over a flight of local brews, bourbon, and light apps, the two hit it off. When Varun asked Vinita for permission to walk her to her front door, she knew he was a keeper.

Early on, we developed a series of nicknames for each other, as well as our "couple" nickname, V Squared. It started out as a joke, but has somehow stuck. It's no Brangelina or TomKat, but we have fun with it! After two years together, Varun orchestrated a very elaborate proposal in Portland, Maine, a place Vinita always talked about but hadn't gotten a chance to visit yet. After a romantic Amtrak train ride up the East Coast, strawberries and champagne, lobster tacos, and a trip to the local museum for a pirate ship exhibit, Varun popped the big question.

Varun was born in Calcutta, and then bopped around to Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore. He spent the majority of his childhood in Perth, Western Australia. Vinita was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, which is technically part of the Southern United States. While you don't technically a passport to visit, it sometimes feels like you do! Growing up in Louisville exposed Vinita to an amalgam of Southern and Midwestern American culture. Both V+V (V Squared!) spent the majority of their life outside of India, so you'll notice some fusion elements throughout the wedding weekend!
